Ingredients:
- 4-5 Average sized bananas
- 1 Box of vanilla wafers (homemade or can be brought from the market)
- 4 ounces or jumbo box of vanilla jello pudding
- 3 cups of milk
- 16 ounces of Cool Whip that is thawed.
How to Make Instant Pudding?
Jello is of the following two varieties:
- First, cook and then Serve
- Instant Serve
Preparing banana pudding via ready-made pudding is an easy process. All you have to do is blend the cold milk with jello for 2 minutes. Cover and put the jello in the refrigerator for a few minutes. Check after 5-7 minutes whether the jello is set or not. If it is set, take it out or if not, wait for another few minutes.
Note: Besides the above two varieties, you can also use a sugar-free jello version. However, using a sugar-free jello will not give you a smooth texture but you can prefer using a milk froth or immersion blender for getting soft jello.
Guidelines:
Preparation time:15 minutes
Chill Time: 4 hours
Step 1: Making of Pudding:
Prepare the instant pudding (vanilla flavor) by following the instructions that we already discussed above. Just for your convenience, we are generally repeating. All you have to do is mix the mixture of pudding with 2 cups of milk and continue stirring until it thickens. You should use cold milk for the preparation of pudding. This is an important step because it ensures the formation of a creamy and smooth base for pudding.
Step 2: Blending Cool Whip to Vanilla Pudding:
This is an additional yet important step. Adding the cool whip adds lightness and creates a gentle texture to the pudding. This step is important because it enhances the taste of banana pudding. Cool whip is a type of heavy cream with a minimum amount of sugar and plenty of air whipped in it.
When you incorporate Cool Whip in vanilla jello pudding, you can notice a light texture custard that is not super thick or sweet. When you are done with adding the cool whip, cover the mixture and put it in the refrigerator for a few minutes (10-15 minutes are recommended) until the pudding is all set.
Step 3: Slicing of Bananas
Here comes the turn of the main ingredient; Bananas. Cut the bananas into thin slices. After cutting, set the sliced bananas aside for later use.
Step 4: Assemble the Banana Pudding:
Let’s assemble the delicious and yummy banana pudding. Your taste buds will already start craving it by just looking at the texture.
- Take a good-sized glass dish, trifle bowl, or casserole dish. Start placing vanilla wafers in it to create a base of vanilla wafers. Doing so will give an enchanting crunch and act as a crunchy and sturdy base for the banana pudding.
- After setting the vanilla wafers at the bottom, place the sliced banana rounds in a layer above the wafers. Do even distribution of sliced bananas for balanced flavor in each bite.
- Now, add a layer of pudding that we prepared earlier over the sliced bananas. You can use a palette knife, or similar equipment to spread the pudding evenly.
- After you are done with layering of bananas with pudding, again add a layer of vanilla wafers followed by adding sliced bananas and then adding pudding on top of sliced bananas.
- End the layering process with an even layer of Cool Whip on top of the pudding. Beautiful plating is essential because it makes the pudding look more appetizing and can elevate the dining experience.
- Take vanilla wafers and crush them into small pieces. After you are done with the layering of pudding, sprinkle tasty vanilla wafers on it.
- Now, refrigerate it for a maximum of 4 hours. For best results, keep the pudding in the refrigerator overnight. Keeping 4 hours in the refrigerator is also fine but long refrigeration will make wafers slightly softer and allow the flavors to meld together properly. When the pudding is served chilled, it becomes even more tasty, thus satisfying the taste buds.
Important Note for Serving Pudding:
After a lot of effort, and waiting, your delicious pudding is ready. One surprising thing about banana pudding is that you can store and eat it when your taste buds are craving it. You can keep the delicious pudding in the fridge for at least 3 days. After 3 days, it will not taste as fresh. Therefore, you should eat banana pudding within 3 days from the day of its preparation to enjoy its full appetizing taste.
